General:
- In the past, for the varied type of ships with different marine propulsion plants
cost-intensive remote controls had to be designed and carried out in accordance with the
propulsion system.
- With the newly developed Marex OS Bosch Rexroth offers a system for the
future. Based on the latest microprocessor technology and a CAN-bus system, simple
as well as complex remote controls for the varied marine propulsion systems are possible.
- Marex OS stands for "Open System". Specific custom control system
configurations are made possible by modular construction with few basic components.
- Communication with safety systems, monitoring, other external systems and even PCs maybe
realized by using optional interface modules.
Applications:
- With little hardware variation and selecting the corresponding software, the Marex OS
can be used for remote controls and monitoring of plants with reversing gear, controllable
pitch propeller, and direct reversible engines.
- For controllable pitch propeller control systems load control respectively overload
prevention is part of the Marex OS hard- and software.
- For reversing gear control systems auxiliary functions such as trolling, modulation
(controlled clutch slip) and shaft brake are part of the Marex OS hard- and software.
- For direct reversible engines with automatic control of the reversing and start
procedures, a visual simulation program is optionally available.
- For safe and comfortable maneuvering with multiple control stations a lever follow-up
system is available.
- Commissioning and service is software supported. Supplementary a visualization
program for function sequence, actual operating conditions and diagnosis is optionally
available.
Advantages:
- custom specific control systems configuration by modular construction
- few basic components
- minimal planning and design costs
- minimized installation and wiring costs by using data bus
- simple commissioning with software support
- clear text information via display for diagnosis and function sequence
- diagnosis via telecommunication (optional)
- visualization for function sequence, actual operating condition and diagnosis (optional)
System Setup:
- In the Marex OS control system the bus-lines connect the modular components with
quick-disconnect plugs - as shown in the block diagrams below
- The CAN-Bus protocol serves as the basis for the bus architecture
- The components have a separate power supply with its own conditioner
- The control systems is switched on and off from the main control station (stand by mode)
- A cyclical supervision of all Bus "participants" is an integral part of the
self-test system
- The logic of the control system is distributed. Subsystems such as lever
follow-up, interfaces, and monitoring, are processed by their own independent CPU.
- The data transfer of all input and outputs signals to the peripherals is via I/O modules
